Lucknow: The Gujarat assembly elections may be held at the end of the year, but the political effort for it has just begun. The Congress has been in power for almost 30 years in the state and Gujarat has become the BJP's political campaign. Congress is doing everything possible to return to power. The Congress has launched the 'Azadi Ki Gaurav Yatra' to mark the completion of 75 years of independence. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether this Congress padayatra will enable the party to return to power in Gujarat.
The 'Azadi Ki Gaurav Yatra', which began on Wednesday from The Gandhi Ashram in Ahmedabad, will conclude at Rajghat in New Delhi on June 1. The yatra, which started from Gujarat, will enter Delhi via Rajasthan, Haryana. Congress has planned to contact more than three lakh people in this 1200-km journey. During this visit, party workers will brief the people about the history of Congress, the freedom movement, the role of great men in the freedom struggle and the functioning of Congress Prime Minister and governments in independent India.
Gujarat is going to assembly elections at the end of the year, the Congress has been out of power in the state for 27 years. Congress is putting its full life into returning to power in this election so that the people can defeat the BJP by giving it their favour. Five years ago, Congress was able to give a tough fight to the BJP here, but the BJP was able to retain power due to PM Narendra Modi's entry into the election campaign at the last minute.
