The Congress party, which had been away from power at the Center for the last seven years, is now struggling with the financial crisis. Where the party is facing a lot of fund problems. Big leaders of the party are seeking help from those states where the Congress is in government. Recently, some senior members of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) had a conversation with leaders of Jharkhand, Maharashtra and Punjab to deal with this difficult situation. Apart from state ministers, many leaders of the organization were also involved in this meeting.

Mainly in the meeting, discussions were being held about the appointment of new presidents and changes in the organization. In the meeting, they are discussing about lack of huge funds in the party. The party's eyes are still on the legislative elections to be held in 5 states. The party needs funds for elections in Kerala, Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Apart from this, the work of construction of the new headquarters of the Congress is going on. Here too the party needs money.

According to the information received, Congress has been facing a shortage of funds since the withdrawal of power in 2014. In front of the growing stature of the BJP, Congress is also becoming weaker in the states. At present, the government of Congress is in only three states - Punjab, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh. The party has a coalition government in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. A party gets funds from private institutions only when it remains in power. Therefore, the party is asking its MPs and MLAs to donate.

It is also said that the party has received 20 crore rupees from the ITC group and its supporting companies from corporate houses. ITC has donated around Rs 13 crore, its subsidiaries ITC Infotech contributed Rs 4 crore and Russell Credit Limited, another ITC subsidiary donated Rs 1.4 crore to Congress. Other corporate houses donating to the Congress in 2019-20 include HEG Limited (Rs 3.5 crore), Gwalior Alcobrove (Rs 5 crore) and BG Shirke Construction (Rs 4 crore).
