New Delhi: Assembly elections in West Bengal are due next year. Before the election dates are announced, a big announcement has been made by Congress to alliance with the Left parties. West Bengal Congress President Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that today the top leadership of the Congress has officially approved the alliance with the Left parties in West Bengal today.

It may be mentioned that elections are going to be held in West Bengal as well as Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Assam and Puducherry next year. Before the election, the Central Committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist) had approved an alliance with secular parties in West Bengal in the month of October itself. It also included the Congress party. CPIM has also decided to go with the Central Committee's decision. In the 2016 elections, the Central Committee refused to tie up with the Congress in West Bengal. But later in the election, the Congress won 44 seats while the left parties won 32 seats, after which the left parties decided to tie up with the Congress.

However, the important thing is that in West Bengal, the BJP has emerged as the most important opposition in West Bengal, apart from TMC, left parties and Congress. So now the elections in Bengal are going to be triangular.
