New Delhi: The country's oldest political party, the Congress, is all set to conduct the election of the party's national president. However, just before this, he has to face many challenges. Veteran leaders like Ghulam Nabi Azad, have resigned from the party just before the elections. At the same time, Shashi Tharoor, Manish Tewari and Karti Chidambaram have expressed their views by demanding the release of the voter list. Not only this but in whose hands the leadership of the Congress party will go, the party is also mired in uncertainty. However, even now many in the party believe that Rahul Gandhi may agree to contest for the post of President.

Rahul Gandhi is expected to return from a foreign trip on Friday evening. It is being told that Congress leaders are pleading with Rahul Gandhi to contest the election of the national president and take the command of the organization into their own hands. Rahul Gandhi resigned from the post of national president in May 2019, taking responsibility for the defeat of the Congress in the Lok Sabha elections. It is also being told that Rahul has said that no one from the Gandhi family will take over the leadership of the party. But, Congress leaders are engaged in the morale of Rahul Gandhi that he should lead the party.

However, a source close to Rahul Gandhi refutes the claim that Rahul will not contest the national president's election to be held this year. According to a media report, a source close to Rahul has said, "Efforts are on to persuade him (Rahul), as this is the only good solution for the party." Their consent cannot be denied. However, a lot will depend on whether the rally against inflation in Delhi on Sunday and then the Bharat Jodo Yatra turns out to be successful.
