Today constitution bench will debate on discrimination against women, religion became reason

New Delhi: A 9-member constitution bench of the Supreme Court is scheduled to discuss issues related to discrimination against women in religious places and various religions, including the Sabarimala temple in Kerala on Monday, 3 February 2020. The Constitution Bench will consider issues related to the entry of Muslim women into mosques, circumcision of women in the Dawoodi Bohra Muslim community and denial of Parsi women marrying non-Parsi person at the holy fire site in 'ignorant'.

It is also being said that apart from Chief Justice SA Bobde, the bench comprised Justice R Bhanumati, Justice Ashok Bhushan, Justice L Nageswara Rao, Justice MM Shantanagoudar, Justice SA Nazir, Justice R Subhash Reddy, Justice BR Gavai and Justice Surya Kant Huh. Earlier on Thursday, a 3-member bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde said that the Constitution Bench would hear the issues framed by some lawyers of the petitioners and would try to give a decision on common legal questions.

According to the information received, the hearing schedule of the Constitution Bench case will also be decided. On the other hand, the bench headed by Chief Justice gave this statement after the mention of senior advocate V Giri in which he said that some senior lawyers appearing in other cases including Sabarimala have prepared some legal proposals and the court should look into them. Earlier on January 13, the court had met four senior lawyers to decide the issues of debate.
