The country has lost 13 lives including its first CDS General Bipin Rawat in the accident. A total of 14 people were on board the helicopter, out of which only Group Captain Varun Singh has survived. Captain Singh has now been admitted to the hospital and his battle with life is on. A letter written by him among all of them is going viral on social media. In fact, Captain Varun Singh, the only survivor of the helicopter accident, wrote a letter to his school on September 18, 2021, which is currently going viral on social media.

He had reportedly written to the principal of Army Public School Chandi Temple where Captain Singh completed his schooling. In this letter, he also addressed the children of his school who are average in studies. Group Captain Varun Singh, who has been awarded the Shaurya Chakra, has written in this letter, "It is okay to be mediocre in studies. Not everyone can excel in school nor can everyone bring 90%. If you get these achievements, it is good and it should be appreciated. But even if it doesn't happen, don't think that you are mediocre. Because being mediocre in school is not a measure to face things that come to life.''

He further wrote, 'So find your hobby. It can be art, music, graphic design, literature anything. Just be completely dedicated to whatever you do. Give your best. You don't have to think that I could have done better by trying more in it. He writes in the letter, "When I was commissioned as a young flight lieutenant in a fighter squadron, I realized that I could do very well if I put my mind and heart into it. That same day I started working to be the best. While as a cadet at the National Defence Academy, I did not excel in studies or sports. But later my passion for planes grew and I kept doing better. Nevertheless, I did not trust my real abilities. In his letter, Captain Singh also credited the school for receiving the Shaurya Chakra.
