UP govt: Municipal corporation will conduct last rites of dead bodies

Lucknow: The corona epidemic has created panic everywhere. Following this order of the Government, the Municipal Corporation will now bear the cost of cremation in all crematoria, cemeteries and crematoria falling within the municipal limits. The order has been sent to all collectors and municipal commissioners by the Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Urban Development.

The letter also directs strict compliance of corona protocol due to funeral of the deceased. In UP, 372 patients died of corona infection on Friday while 28,076 new cases of infection were reported in the state. This was reported by a top health department official. Principal Secretary, Health Department Alok Kumar told reporters on Friday that 372 corona infected people have died in the state in the last 24 hours and so far 14,873 people have died due to the infection.

He said that the total number of infected patients so far has gone up to 14,53,679 after receiving 28,076 new patients in the last 24 hours. He said a total of 2,54,118 infected are currently under treatment in the state. In the last 24 hours, 33,117 infected infections have been released in the state and so far 11,84,688 people have been cured by corona infection. According to a health bulletin issued on Friday, 1,982 new infected persons were found and 25 people died in UP's capital Lucknow. During the same period, 1,817 new infected persons have been found in Meerut, 1,288 in Gautam Budhnagar and 1,122 in Saharanpur.
