New Delhi: Coronavirus cases have once again started rising in some parts of India and in many countries of the world, even as the death rate has come under control to a great extent, the WHO's Emergency Committee on Coronavirus said on Wednesday, adding that the Covid pandemic still remains a major health threat and stressed that countries have to fight against it. Your fight should not be weakened. Many countries have also relaxed public health and social measures, and have drastically reduced coronavirus sample testing. A group of experts from the World Health Organization said the virus was not going to end yet.
The capital on Wednesday saw a steep rise of nearly 50 per cent in daily Covid cases as compared to the previous day, while no new death has been reported so far, with 299 cases reported in the last 24 hours as compared to 202 on Tuesday. At the same time, 12,022 samples were tested, out of which 2.49 per cent samples were found to be Covid positive. At present, 504 coronavirus patients are in home isolation in Delhi, while 11 are admitted to hospitals.
The Covid positivity rate in Delhi has increased from 0.5 per cent to 2.70 per cent in a week. Doctors have also said it is "not a state of panic" as the number of daily cases is still low, but they have cautioned against easing precautionary measures. No health bulletin has been issued on Tuesday. On Monday, the positivity rate in Delhi was the highest in two months at 2.70 per cent. On February 5, the corona test positivity rate in Delhi was 2.87 per cent. With the positivity rate rising significantly in the recent past, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had on Monday said the government was keeping an eye on the situation arising out of the coronavirus and there was no cause for concern.
