NEW DELHI: On the occasion of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birth anniversary, the Congress paid tribute to him, saying he provided the country its strongest pillar of strength - the Constitution.

"On the occasion of his 131st birth anniversary, my compliments to Babasaheb Dr. BR Ambedkar, who gave India its strongest pillar of strength - our precious Constitution," Rahul Gandhi stated on Twitter.

The Congress veteran said, "Babasaheb Ambedkar is still a proponent of social justice, human rights, and equality. His life and efforts have inspired millions of people throughout the world. On the occasion of his birth anniversary, we honour the man who drafted India's constitution." "Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution, a great economist, and a saver of the poor," said Congress General Secretary Avinash Pande. Ambedkar attended Columbia University and the London School of Economics to study economics. He began his career as an economist, educator, and lawyer.

Later, he became involved in India's independence movement and fought for the Scheduled Castes' political rights. Ambedkar was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour, in 1990.
