Babasaheb's statue disappeared on 'Ambedkar Jayanti', villagers jammed

Lucknow: Angry villagers have created a ruckus by blocking the national highway in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district after the statue of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar went missing on the day of Ambedkar Jayanti. The villagers have blocked the highway for several hours, leading to a long line of vehicles on the highway. The commotion still continues.

In the Sumerpur town of Hamirpur district, women sitting on the national highway with sticks, sticks and the agitating youths are demanding that the statue of Baba Saheb installed by them be returned. In fact, some people in Sumerpur town wanted to celebrate the birth anniversary today by forcibly placing a statue of Baba Saheb on someone else's land. In this case, the landowner did not want to let the statue be kept, but people had forcibly placed the idol on his land yesterday (Wednesday) during the day, which has disappeared at night. As soon as the information about the disappearance of the statue was received, hundreds of women, men, and youths came out on the road and created a ruckus and blocked the national highway.

The protesters are demanding the return of the statue. District officials with heavy police force rushed to the spot on information of the commotion and are trying to handle the situation. The National Highway is jammed till the time the news is written. The police force of several police stations including magistrates is deployed at the spot. The national highway has been jammed for several kilometres since night.
