New Delhi: The tourism industry has been badly affected by the global epidemic corona virus. The lockdown imposed till April 14 across the country has broken the back of the tourism industry. This has created employment crisis in front of 38 million people related to the industry. Crores of people in India are directly or indirectly connected with the tourism industry.

In this context, the government has already been told by the Federation of Associations in Indian Tourism and Hospitality (Faith), an organization of the tourism sector, that there is a need to try to save this industry of five trillion rupees from loss. Even before the lockdown, many airlines and travel companies had sent more than 35 percent of their employees on leave without salary. According to the industry association, the travel and tourism sector contributed 9.2 percent of India's GDP in 2018 and it provided 2.67 crore jobs.

According to Assocham, the global epidemic, which will be the most affected by the corona virus, will affect the hotel, tour and travel, aviation, catering, construction and entertainment sectors.
