Corona effects on hospitality sector, 70 percent of people can be unemployed

New Delhi: With the lockdown implemented by the government to prevent the corona epidemic from spreading in the country, unemployment is expected to increase in the country. Although the first challenge facing the country at this time is the fight against the coronavirus, but due to the lockdown, the industries have come to a standstill and the most hit is the hospitality sector of the country.

According to Hemant Kanoria, an infra-sector businessman and chairman of SREI Infrastructure, the lockdown poses a threat to employment of about 70% of people working in the hospitality sector. Hemant has written a letter to PM Modi in this regard and pleaded for the assistance of the sector. He has also given some suggestions to help the hospitality sector and said that full relief from GST should be given for one year to help the industry and the state and central governments should pay the dues of CGST and SGST at the earliest.

Hemant Kanoria has also made several suggestions to assist the hospitality sector, including waiving the fixed fee to be charged for consumption of electricity and water for 6 months and the burden of half the salary of the employees belonging to the sector for 6 months.
