On Sunday, 47 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Chhattisgarh, with which the total number of infected in the state reached 494. A health department official said that most of the patients in the new cases reported are migrant laborers. Of these, 18 are in Mahasamund district, 16 in Jashpur, 5 in Korba, 3 in Raipur and 2 in Bilaspur while Kanker, Balod and Rajnandgaon have one patient each.

In his statement, the officer said that most of them are migrant laborers who have come back from different parts of the country to their home district and were either kept in isolation or many are in contact with them. Earlier in the day, 11 patients were discharged from two hospitals in Raipur after recovering. The official said that 114 Covid-19 patients have become healthy in the state so far, while 379 are under treatment and one patient has died.

On the other hand, the number of coronavirus infections in the country has crossed 1.90 lakh. According to the latest figures of the Union Health Ministry, a total of 1,90,535 cases have been reported in the country so far. The death toll in the country has also reached 5,394.
