On Saturday, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari asked the National Highways Authority of India (NHIA) chairman and toll operators to ensure the necessary facilities including the food and drink of migrant workers on national highways. Nitin Gadkari's directive has come at a time when there is a lockdown in the country in view of the coronavirus epidemic. Due to this, migrant workers trapped in different parts are facing many difficulties.

On this matter, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Gadkari said, 'I have advised the NHAI and toll operators to provide water for food and drink for migrant workers and citizens going to their homes. In this time of crisis, we have to be kind to fellow citizens. He hoped that the toll operators would follow his instructions soon.

Nitin Gadkari had ordered the NHAI to make all the national highways toll free so that transportation of essential goods and supplies would be easy. He said that toll-free national highway will ease the supply of essential goods across the country and the movement of patients with curfew passes and needy people will become easier. Urging people to follow the lockdown, the Union Minister said that the decision of toll-free has been taken for those who have to go out for necessary work. He said that even though there is a lockdown in the whole country, passes are being issued to some needy people. Toll-free will save time for people.
