New Delhi: According to reports, the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup will take place in the Caribbean and the United States from June 4 to June 30 at ten venues.

According to reports, an ICC team visited some of the USA's shortlisted locations this week. These locations will be hosting an international global cricket event for the first time.

These include Morrisville, Dallas, and New York for tournament matches and warm-ups, as well as Lauderhill in Florida, which has already hosted international matches and will host West Indies vs. India in the next two weeks.

The first American Major League Cricket tournament is currently taking place in Morrisville and Dallas.

Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Church Street Park in Morrisville, and Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx in New York City have yet to receive the designation of international venue, which is required by ICC regulations. In the coming months, the ICC, along with Cricket West Indies (CWI) and USA Cricket (USAC), will make a final decision regarding the venues.

Ireland, Scotland, and Papua New Guinea qualified for the 20-team T20 World Cup this week using the ICC's system of regional qualifiers. While PNG won the East Asia-Pacific Region Qualifier, the top two finishers in the Europe Region Qualifier were Ireland and Scotland. In the upcoming months, qualifiers from the regions of the Americas (for one spot), Africa (for two spots), and Asia (for two spots) will be decided.

Before the regional qualifiers, twelve teams had already qualified for the competition, including the hosts West Indies and the United States as well as the top eight teams from the 2022 T20 World Cup: Australia, England, India, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.

The final two teams on the 20-team roster, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, qualified based on their positions in the T20I rankings.

In contrast to the previous two World Cups (2020-21 in the UAE and 2022 in Australia), which followed the first round with Super 12, the 2024 World Cup will have a different format.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8s, with the 20 teams divided into four groups of five for the first round the following season. The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-finals as the Super 8 teams are divided into two groups of four each.

The first of eight men's major competitions in the ICC's upcoming commercial cycle, which runs from 2024 to 2031, is the T20 World Cup in 2024.

The ICC made the choice to name the USA as a co-host as part of a strategic move with two objectives in mind: first, the North American market was recognized as a key market for the expansion of the sport. Additionally, the ICC wants cricket to be included in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028 (LA28).

The ICC believed that the USA being selected to co-host a significant cricket event would only strengthen the case for cricket's inclusion in LA28. The International Olympic Committee will make the final decision this year, but the ICC made a presentation to the LA28 team first.
