Dallas: Led by Trent Boult's second consecutive 4-fer, MI New York defeated Texas Super Kings by 6 wickets in the Challenger at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Saturday to advance to the Major League Cricket's inaugural final, where they will take on Seattle Orcas.

When Super Kings were given the opportunity to bat, Boult's strong opening spell quickly put them in trouble. While attempting to tuck the ball to Dewald Brevis at backward point on the legside, Faf du Plessis gained the upper hand. The promotion of Mitchell Santner didn't work out because three balls later, the left-hander managed to edge the keeper.

After a slow beginning, Cody Chetty picked up the pace by hitting three boundaries off David Wiese and Ehsan Adil in quick succession. However, his attempt at an upper cut ended up making Nicholas Pooran an easy catch behind the stumps, ending his stay.

With a half-century stand, Devon Conway and Milind Kumar stabilized the innings, but they were finding it difficult to move the ball.

Boundaries disappeared. When he slogswept Steven Taylor for a boundary and a six off consecutive deliveries in the 14th over, Milind Kumar found his feet.

Milind also attempted to dismiss Rashid Khan, but Brevis expertly pouched his slogsweep off a low full-toss from the spinner in the deep. In the following over, Conway followed him back to the dugout by pulling a short ball off Boult, giving Brevis his third catch of the contest.

As Super Kings sought a desperate acceleration in the final overs, David Miller cracked a few sixes and Savage also hit one. But it wasn't sufficient. The final ball of the innings saw MINY bowlers knock them out after continuing to chip away.

With Shayan Jahangir driving Daniel Sams over extra cover for a boundary off the first ball, MINY quickly responded. In the first over, Slade van Staden, who had replaced Monank Patel, also got things going with a boundary, but he struggled throughout his 12-ball stay. He was held in check by Juan Theron and Gerald Coetzee before the former eventually got him as he mistimed a slog to mid on.

Jahangir opened up in the fifth over after beginning the first four at less than run-a-ball. He hit Coetzee for a boundary after slapping him over cover before launching a six and a four through the middle of the wicket.

Before ultimately failing in his attempt to maintain sustained attack, he even welcomed Calvin Savage with a six in the following over. He pulled a deep square leg fielder with a top edge.

His quick blitz did give MINY a strong start, which Pooran and Brevis successfully built upon. In their 30-run alliance, the pair mainly relied on rotating the strike, but Pooran hit a few sixes off Santner to keep the needed rate from rising.

A fine yorker from Sams eventually trapped him legbefore, but Brevis and Tim David made sure there were no mistakes.

Before Santner took out Mohammed Mohsin, Brevis and David continued to attack the veteran spinner by hitting him for sixes each. In a span of four balls, three floaty deliveries were all sent over the boundary ropes.

When Mohsin struck out Wiese later in the inning, his day took a turn for the worse, but by that point, the outcome was already decided. With an extra over, MI New York successfully rounded up the target.
