Amravati: Counting of votes for ZPTC, MPTC elections will begin at 8 am tomorrow

Amaravati: The counting of votes for ZPTC and MPTC elections will begin tomorrow at 8 am and results will be declared in the evening. The State Election Commission has set up 275 counting centers and around 41,000 employees will participate in the counting.

In compliance with the High Court order, the State Election Commission (SEC) issued the notification for the counting of votes for the ZPTC and MPTC elections. The High Court had given the green signal for the counting of votes on 16 September. It is noteworthy that as per the notification issued by the State Election Commission, elections were held on 8th April for 515 ZPTC and 7220 MPTC. Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das on Friday held a video conference with District Collectors, SPs, District Panchayat Officers and Zilla Panchayat CEOs on the counting of votes. 

Addressing the officers, the Chief Secretary said that the counting of votes should be done following the guidelines of Kovid. While directing the collectors to make arrangements for counting of votes, he said that a special officer should be appointed in each district to oversee the arrangements. The Chief Secretary directed the Superintendents of Police to make arrangements at the counting centers. Principal Secretary Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Gopal Krishna Dwivedi, Commissioner Girija Shankar, SEC Secretary K Kannababu and other officers were present.
