New Delhi: India's biggest vehicle thief has been arrested by the special staff of Delhi's Central District Police. He is also called the guru of thieves. There are 181 criminal cases registered against him in many states of the country. Interestingly, 146 of these cases are registered in Delhi alone. At the same time, it is said that it has stolen and sold 8,000 vehicles so far. This notorious and most wanted thief not only used to steal vehicles from many states along with his gang members but also sold the vehicles stolen from other states including Delhi-NCR in Bangladesh, Nepal and north-eastern regions.

According to DSP Central District Shweta Chauhan, the name of the arrested vehicle thief is Anil Chauhan. He is originally from Assam and also has a house here in Khanpur Extension, Delhi. He has set up his base in Sonitpur Tezpur, Assam for years after indulging in criminal incidents. The criminal also smuggles weapons and rhino horns. According to the police, this notorious thief was arrested by the Assam Police in the year 2015 along with the then MLA. After which the Enforcement Directorate also filed a case against him and recovered all his property. Due to his political reach, criminal Anil has also been a Class I government contractor of Assam.

According to Delhi Police, the criminal Anil has studied up to 12th standard from Delhi. He started stealing vehicles in 1998. He has 3 wives and 7 children. He has been arrested by the police of many states and sent to jail, but he used to start stealing again after being released on bail. This criminal has been stealing vehicles for almost 25 years, due to which vehicle thieves also call him his guru. This vicious has mastered making fake keys for vehicles. Police seized six pistols, seven cartridges, a bike and a car at the instance of the criminal.
