Nagpur, Due to opposition from the families of a couple for the wedding, the duo committed suicide. Yesterday 25-year-old Sharad Satish Gedam and his wife Barkha Subhash Sirsath 19 took the extreme step by hanging themselves from a ceiling in their house in the Danteshwari slums in Dhantoli area.

"Please hand over my body to my parents and Sharad's body to his parents for (the) last rites. I have not cheated my family,"

Barkha wrote in the suicide note. Barkha and Sharad had tied the knot around two years back, said police.

Both Barkha's and Sharad's families were not reportedly ready to accept their marriage, police said.

A case under relevant sections of IPC has been registered in this regard, and ivestigations is underway.
