Mumbai: Former ICICI Bank CEO Chanda Kochhar has been granted bail by a special PMLA court. The court has granted bail on a bond of 5 lakh rupees. Along with this, it has been ordered not to go out of the country without permission from the court. In December last year, the apex court had rejected Chanda Kochhar's appeal against the dismissal of ICICI Bank as Managing Director MD and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

It is noteworthy that Chanda Kochhar is facing serious charges of illegally giving loans to Videocon in violation of rules from ICICI Bank. Chanda Kochhar and Videocon owner Venugopal Dhut have been ordered by the PMLA court to appear in court today. The ED is investigating money laundering in this case. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleges that Chanda Kochhar, through her husband, took advantage of Dhoot in return for benefits. The ED filed a charge sheet in the case against the Kochhar couple and Dhoot in November 2020 after their investigation.

Earlier in December last year, the Supreme Court turned down Chanda Kochhar's appeal against the dismissal of ICICI Bank as Managing Director MD and Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
