New Delhi: Responding to the discussion on the budget in the Upper House of Parliament, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman accused the opposition that presenting the facts in such a manner that nothing is being done, it became the habit of the opposition. She said that how much work has been done by our government for the poor, we are running many schemes for them.

Sitharaman said that our schemes are directly benefiting the poor, the middle class, and not those capitalists. Taking a dig at the opposition, she said, "Who is getting the benefit of the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, is it going to the son-in-law. Not a trademark of the Indian National Congress.” She said that 800 million people were given free grain, 80 million were given free cooking gas and the cash amount was directly paid to some 40 crore people, farmers, women, disabled people to their accounts. She asked the opposition whether only the capitalists had benefited from these provisions.

Sitharaman said, "More than 1.67 crore houses were built under PM Awas Yojana, is it for the rich. Since October 2017, more than 2.67 crore houses were electrified under PM Awas Yojana. The total value of orders placed on the Government e-market is 8,22,077 crore. Are they being given to big companies? They are being given to MSME. "
