A court in Delhi has given a strong message on Friday in the case of violence in the national capital in February. The court said that the members of the WhatsApp group had allegedly lost their conscience as revenge against the Muslims and started working with the thinking of the crowd. The court said this after taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed against 9 people in the murder case of a resident during the communal violence in north-east Delhi in February.
The court said that some youths who formed a group called 'Radical Hindu Unity' on WhatsApp to take revenge on Muslims, failed to realize the 'relentless stupidity' of the alleged propaganda. Metropolitan Magistrate Purushottam Pathak took cognizance of the riot, unlawful assembly, murder and criminal conspiracy against nine people in the alleged murder of Hashim Ali. The court ordered on August 28 to present all the accused Lokesh Kumar Solanki, Pankaj Sharma, Sumit Chaudhary, Ankit Chaudhary, Prince, Rishabh Chaudhary, Jatin Sharma, Vivek Panchal and Himanshu Thakur through video conference for further hearing in the case.
The judge said in his instruction, "I think there is enough material on record to take cognizance of the crimes allegedly committed by the accused." The court said that from the statements of the witnesses and the chargesheet, it was found prima facie that the accused had deliberately hatched a conspiracy. Significantly, on February 26, the accused had brutally slaughtered Hashim Ali near the culvert of Bhagirathi Vihar drain and threw the body into the drain. On 27 February, the body was seized from the drain in Gokulpuri area.
