Lucknow: The court has sentenced former Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Atiq Ahmed along with his lawyer Khan Soulat Hanif to life imprisonment in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case of Umesh Pal, the main witness of kidnapping. It has been proven in court that along with Ateeq, lawyer Khan Soulat Haneef was also involved in the conspiracy to kidnap Umesh Pal. According to reports, Hanif was present in Atiq's Chakia office during the abduction.

It has been proven in court that when Umesh Pal was kidnapped and brought to Ateeq's office (the alleged torture room), advocate Haneef was already present there with a document in which the statement in support of Ateeq was written. Umesh Pal was given that document along with a warning that he should give the same statement in court that is written on this paper. Justice Dinesh Chandra Shukla of the MP/MLA court has said in his decision that lawyer Hanif was already aware of the entire plan of kidnapping. After the verdict, Haneef has been sent to jail; he has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of one lakh rupees has also been imposed on him.

Atiq Ahmed's lawyer, Khan Soulat Hanif (61), is a senior lawyer. He has been with Ateeq for a long time. Hanif has advocated for Atiq Ahmed in many cases. Hanif has gone from the Sessions Court to the High Court to save Atiq. The credit also goes to Hanif for saving Atiq from the clutches of the law for nearly 30 years. Tell that, former DGP of Uttar Pradesh OP Singh has also said in a statement that he would have ended Atiq's terror 30 years ago, in 1990, if there had been no pressure from politicians on him. At that time, there was Mulayam Singh Yadav's government in UP, when dreaded criminals like Atiq and Mukhtar Ansari used to roam freely and even used to threaten the police. Looking at Atiq's case, it can be understood that everyone, from the government to the lawyer, was engaged in trying to save a murderer while the general public was suffering. The government was probably supporting Atiq to save its vote bank.
