Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra believes that the world after Covid-19 could be beneficial for the Indian Games as there would be an opportunity to invest on local infrastructure and human resources such as coaches and support staff in the absence of potential foreign tours. Veteran shooter Bindra was addressing the newly appointed Assistant Directors of Sports Authority of India (SAI) and other senior officials during a special online session on Monday.

How he sees Indian sports in the event of an outbreak of an epidemic, Bindra said, "The situation after Covid-19 can be beneficial for India. Probably there will not be much foreign tournaments and camps and India may get a chance to prepare appropriate sports infrastructure. He said, 'We need to prepare our own coaches and support staff.' Bindra said that the sports administrators need to work towards preparing alternative skill development programs to ensure better players' status in the long run.
He said, 'We need to take care of the players because the nature of the game is that more players than successful will fail. It is important that the players have an alternative plan in case they do not make a sports career.

Bindra also elaborated on his experience as a player. He said, 'One percent players make all the difference in the game and we need to start focusing on all these one percent players. Emphasizing the need to formulate a strong talent identification and development program, Bindra said, "It is important to set the right foundation, with the Khelo India program a lot of work has already started on it."
