Covid Roundup: India reports 8,503 new cases in last 24-hrs

New Delhi: India recorded 8,503 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Kerala reported 4,169 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, out of these new infections.

With 94,943 active cases, the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 3,46,74,744. The active caseload is currently at 0.27 percent, which is less than one percent of the entire caseload.  For the past 67 days, a daily positive rate of 0.66 percent has been reported, which is less than 2 percent. Furthermore, during the past 26 days, a weekly positive rate of 0.72 percent has been reported, which is less than one percent.

In the last 24 hours, the country added 7,678 additional recoveries from the infection, bringing the total to 3,41,05,066. Currently, the recovery rate stands at 98.36 percent.

However, the government reported 624 more deaths, bringing the total number of deaths to 4,74,735. In the meantime, the country has done around 65.32 crore COVID-19 tests to date. In terms of COVID-19 vaccination, about 131.18 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far as part of the statewide vaccination campaign.
