New Delhi: India seen a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases as it recorded 20,139 new infections, ie 19% higher than yesterday, in the last 24 hours, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Thursday.
This is an increase in infections from yesterday of 3,233. On Wednesday, India reported 16,906 new COVID cases. The number of open cases has increased to 1,36,076 and makes up 0.31 percent of all cases in the nation.
According to the Health Ministry, the weekly positive rate was 4.37 and the daily positivity rate in the last 24 hours was 5.10 percent. The weekly positivity rate was 4.26 percent, and the daily positivity rate was 3.68 percent on Wednesday. The recovery rate in the country is 98.49%. In the past 24 hours, 16,482 recoveries were reported, bringing the overall number of recoveries to 4,30,28,356.
According to the latest government data, 38 new fatalities have brought India's COVID-19 death toll to 5,25,557. 3,94,774 COVID samples in total were examined throughout this time. So far, 86.81 crore tests have been performed in the nation.
Notably, 13,44,714 COVID vaccinations were given in the last 24 hours as part of the nationwide vaccination campaign. There have been 1,99,27,27,559 vaccinations given thus far.
In the new phase of the universalization of the COVID vaccination drive, the central govt will procure and supply 75 percent of vaccines, free of cost, being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and Union territories.
