NEW DELHI: India's daily Covid cases decreased marginally with 6,561 new infections from 7,554 the day before. In a 24-hour period, 142 new Covid-related deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll to 5,14,388, according to the Union health ministry on Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, according to the ministry report, active Covid cases have decreased to 77,152, accounting for 0.18 percent of the country's total positive cases.
The recovery of 14,947 patients in the last 24 hours has brought the total number of patients recovered to 4,23,53,620. As a result, India's recovery rate is 98.62 percent, according to the Union Health Ministry. A total of 8,82,953 tests were done across the country during the same time period. In total, India has done over 77 crore tests.
In the meantime, the weekly positivity rate has dropped to 0.99 percent, but the daily positivity rate has risen to 0.74 percent. As of Wednesday morning, India's Covid vaccination coverage had surpassed 178 crore, thanks to the delivery of almost 21 lakh vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. This was accomplished after 2,05,41,983 sessions.
According to the health ministry, as of Thursday morning, more than 15.19 crore balance and unused Covid vaccination pills were still available with the states and union territories to be administered.
