More than 11,000 cases reported in 24 hours as corona continues to wreak havoc in the country

New Delhi: India has reported 11,271 new cases of coronavirus and 285 deaths in the last 24 hours. According to data from the Union Health Ministry, 11,376 people also recovered from the virus. The total number of infection cases in the country has gone up to 3,44,37,307 after the new cases came in. The number of active cases (patients undergoing treatment) has come down to 1,35,918, which is 0.39 per cent of the total cases. The number of infections in the country is more than 3.38 crore.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the rate of infection in the country is currently 98.26 per cent. In India, 4,63,530 people have died of corona so far, 1.35 per cent of the total infection cases. According to the Health Ministry, more than 70 per cent of the people who have died of coronavirus infection so far had other diseases.

The same newly registered cases recorded a positivity rate of 0.90 per cent, down from less than 2 per cent for the past 41 days. The weekly positivity rate is at 1.01 per cent. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 12,55,904 samples were tested to detect coronavirus infection across the country on Saturday. More than 62.37 crore samples have been tested in the country since the outbreak of the corona epidemic.
