G Kishan Reddy, the Union Minister for Culture, Tourism and Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER), tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday in New Delhi.
The Union Minister is currently confined to his home.
"With modest symptoms, I tested positive for COVID-19 today. I've isolated myself and placed myself under home quarantine after following all of the proper precautions. I ask that everybody who has recently interacted with me isolate themselves and be tested "Today, Reddy tweeted.
Earlier today, the Union Minister virtually addressed the 'Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav se Swarnim Bharat Ke Ore' inauguration ceremony.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Thursday that India has 3,17,532 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, with a daily positive rate of 16.41 percent.
