BANGALORE: A man and three other people have been detained by the Karnataka Police in connection with hiring a gang to kill the man's wife after she filed a dowry complaint against him.

The City Central Branch (CCB) police detained Yogesh, the driver of the ambulance, and Siddharth Hosamani, an insurance agent. Rowdy-sheeter Bettappa, who is currently incarcerated, has also been reported to the police.
Police claim that accused Hosamani wed a widow ten years ago. When her husband passed away, he assisted in getting the claims paid out because he had arranged insurance for their family. The widow and Hosamani grew close over time, and they eventually got married and had a son together.

Hosamani, on the other hand, was already married and had two kids. He had handed his second wife's son away to his previous wife's childless sister. The second wife had been clamouring for the return of her son.

She also reported her spouse to the Malleshwaram police station for dowry and kidnapping of a child. In this case, Hosamani was imprisoned and eventually released on bond. This infuriated him, so he made the decision to murder his second wife. He asked the accused Ranjith and Yogesh for assistance in kidnapping her and giving another gang "supari" so they could kill her.

He had earlier informed them that his second wife was a drug addict who could be abducted from a bar under false pretenses and taken to a recovery facility. After that, she would be abducted by another gang and killed.

Siddharth, the accused, formed contacts while incarcerated and has since used them. However, the ambulance's unusual activities were discovered by the police, who then detained the suspects before they could kidnap anyone.
Investigations have revealed that rowdy-sheeter Bettappa, who perpetually remained behind bars, used to take "suparis" and have them put to death. The situation is being looked into further by the police.
