Imphal: On Sunday morning, a tragic ambush in Manipur's Jiribam district resulted in the death of a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan and injuries to three other personnel. The attack occurred at approximately 9:40 AM when a combined team of CRPF and Manipur Police was targeted by armed miscreants.

The incident unfolded as the security team, comprising members of the 20th Battalion CRPF and local Manipur Police, was en route to Monbung village. The team was conducting a search operation in connection with a previous firing incident that took place on July 13.

The slain CRPF jawan has been identified as 43-year-old Ajay Kumar Jha, hailing from Bihar. His death marks a significant loss for the security forces deployed in the region. The three injured personnel include a Sub-Inspector (SI) from the Jiribam Police Station and two other members of the CRPF.

According to officials, the ambush was meticulously planned and executed by unidentified armed assailants. The attack underscores the ongoing security challenges in the region, where tensions have been heightened due to recent violent incidents.

The security team was reportedly in the process of investigating and addressing the earlier firing incident when they were ambushed. The swift and coordinated assault by the miscreants resulted in immediate casualties and raised concerns about the safety of security forces operating in the area.

Following the ambush, emergency medical services were promptly dispatched to the scene to provide aid to the injured personnel. They were subsequently transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment. The condition of the injured personnel is reported to be stable, but their injuries remain a concern for authorities.

The attack has drawn condemnation from various quarters, with officials calling for increased vigilance and enhanced security measures to protect the personnel deployed in the region. The police and security forces are actively engaged in a search operation to apprehend the assailants responsible for the ambush.

The incident has further highlighted the volatility of the security situation in Manipur, which has been grappling with insurgent activities and ethnic tensions. Authorities are urging for greater cooperation and support from local communities to help address the security challenges and ensure the safety of both civilians and security personnel.

The death of CRPF jawan Ajay Kumar Jha and the injuries sustained by the other personnel are a stark reminder of the risks faced by security forces in their efforts to maintain peace and order in conflict-prone areas.
