HYDERABAD: In accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, senior officials from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will attend a crucial meeting called by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday in New Delhi to settle outstanding concerns between the two states.

Along with some other key officials, the chief secretaries of both Telugu states are scheduled to attend the meeting to resolve outstanding concerns following the split of Andhra Pradesh in 2014.

There were apparently up to 14 open matters on the agenda. Seven of these had to do with the problems between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The remaining concerns relate to financial support for the capital of Andhra Pradesh, grants for the development of underdeveloped districts, and other promises made in the Reorganisation Act.

The Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act 2014's Schedule IX and X institutions' division is likely to come up during the meeting that will be presided over by Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla.

The division of the Andhra Pradesh State Finance Corporation, Singareni Collieries, and AP Heavy Machinery Engineering Limited, the cash and bank balance between the two states, and the debts owed by both states to civil supply corporations will also be discussed at the meeting.

The discussion is taking place as Telangana accuses the federal government of prejudice and withholding funding that could impede the state's development.

In a recent letter, the Central government requested that Telangana pay Andhra Pradesh's outstanding electricity debt of Rs. 6,000 crore by the end of September. Telangana asserts that Andhra Pradesh is the party owing it money of Rs 17,000 crore.
Telangana representatives are anticipated to bring up the matter of unpaid electricity bills. They are also likely to raise the excessive delay in receiving approvals for irrigation projects in Telangana from the Central government to the attention of the Home Secretary.

They can also draw attention to the illegal practises of Andhra Pradesh, which diverts water from the Krishna River to other locations without taking Telangana's interests into account.
