New Delhi: None of the 4 convicts who gang-raped and murdered Nirbhaya has yet informed the Tihar Jail authorities as to when they would like to meet their family for the last time. The Delhi High Court seems unlikely to hang all 4 on 22 January 2020, following the pleas given by the Delhi government today. On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, the jail authorities told that there is no restriction on meeting any of the family members.
According to sources, an official told that one of the culprits, Akshay Kumar Singh talks to his wife on phone but she has not come to meet him after November 2019. On asking the reason, Akshay told the jail authorities that she will come only when he calls. The 4 convicts, Vinay, Akshay, Mukesh Kumar, and Pawan Gupta, who were sentenced to death in this case, were to be hanged at 7 am on January 22. The Delhi government told the Delhi High Court on Wednesday that since the mercy petition of one of them is pending with the President, he cannot be hanged.

The jail officer told, 'Every closet has 3-4 guards 24 hours and CCTV cameras are also installed there. There are no fans in the closet. They are kept alone, they are not allowed to meet anyone. It is also being said that we are not allowing them to talk among themselves. He told that there is an open space outside the closet where he can walk, exercise or do yoga. Doctors and psychologists are constantly talking to 4 so that their mind is correct. After the warrant of death was issued by the sessions court on January 7, all 4 have been kept in different chambers.
