However, China did not like this demand, and to stop the pressure, it banned some goods imported from Australia.

Three sources of the Australian Government said on Friday that China is being held responsible for the cyber attacks. A source said, "There is full confidence that China is behind the attacks." However, a spokesman of China's foreign ministry denied his country's involvement in the attacks. He said that China strongly opposes all kinds of cyberattacks.

In his statement, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said without naming any country, "We know that a complex foreign element is trying to hack the data of government, political institutions, essential service providers and key infrastructure operators." However, he refused to say whom Australia held responsible. Australia's intelligence agencies say that similarities have been found between the recent cyber attacks and the attacks on Parliament and three political parties in March last year. China was also held responsible for these attacks. However, Australia never openly identified the source of the attack.
