Offending over time-delay in receiving payment of Rs 22,000 from the Department of Life Long Learning of DAVV, two youths decided to take revenge and made a fake Instagram profile of the department for trolling the department HoD, faculties and students. The duo was arrested by State Cyber Cell Police on Thursday.
According to SP (Cyber Cell) Jitendra Singh, the department HOD, Dr. Bharti Joshi complained against two Instagram pages, naming DAVVMEMES and DOLLL CONFESSION. She alleged that the operators of these two pages are trolling the department and its related people. Police had registered a case under section 43, 66 and 66C of IT Act. In their investigation, police found that Gaurav Yadav of Sangam Nagar and Abhishek of Mayur Nagar were operating the page. In police interrogation, the accused said that they had done work of designing pamphlets and brochures for the Department in 2019.
The department had to pay Rs 22,000 to them for this work but the department allegedly did not pay. The accused confessed to police that they were upset with the delay in payment and due to that they collected data of officials and students of the department and started trolling them to take revenge. Police said that the youths used to pick pictures of the student and teachers from their social media profiles. They then make memes on these images and post them on the two Instagram pages. The department people tried to contact the admin of the pages but when they did not receive an appropriate response they complained to the police. Police have recovered one mobile phone and two SIM cards from the youths.
