The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued a warning to smartphone users regarding scam calls from specific numbers. Scammers use these numbers to trick people and harass them. The DoT has advised users to be cautious.

Scam Calls in the Name of DoT

According to the Telecom Ministry, scammers call users in the name of DoT, threatening to disconnect their connection. They claim that the user's number is being used for illegal activities and pose as CBI officials.

Foreign WhatsApp Calls

The DoT has also warned about foreign WhatsApp calls starting with the number +92-xxxxxxxxxx.

Precautions and Reporting

The DoT has advised users not to answer such calls or share any information. Users can block and report these numbers. If you are a victim of fraud, you can report it on the Sanchar Sathi portal under the 'I-Report Suspected Fraud Communications' facility. You can also check mobile connections in your name and report any number on the same portal. In case of financial fraud, report it to the Cyber Crime Helpline number 1930 or The DoT has issued a warning to smartphone users regarding scam calls.
