Dhaka: The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) said on Friday (May 12) that tropical cyclone Mocha has become extremely dangerous. This can affect the world's largest refugee camp built in Bangladesh. WMO's Claire Nullis has informed during a Geneva press briefing that due to the storm coming with a wave of 2-2.5 meters, there is a possibility of flooding in parts of Bangladesh apart from northern Myanmar, due to which landslides are also possible.

This is a very dangerous cyclone. Which is associated with violent winds. Because of which the lives of hundreds of people will be affected. This cyclone is ready to make landfall in Bangladesh on Sunday (May 14). This cyclone will also affect the southeastern border district of Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh. About 1 lakh Rohingya refugees live here. According to media reports, most of the Rohingyas had fled here in 2017 after military action in neighboring Myanmar. Olga Sarrado, a spokeswoman for the UN refugee agency, has said that, if necessary, the camp will be partially evacuated. The agency told that it was also preparing to send hot food and jerrycans to the people.

At the same time, the World Health Organization (WHO) said that some 33 mobile medical teams have been prepared for the camp. Also, 40 ambulances as well as emergency surgery and cholera kits have already been deployed. Margaret Harris of WHO told that if there is a change in the level of this cyclone, then there is a matter of fear. For this we have to be prepared in advance.
