Cyclone Nisaga, coming from the southwest, will be the first severe cyclone to make landfall in Mumbai since 1891. With 20 million people, Mumbai is the most populous city in India. Corona hit Mumbai badly.

The Indian Meteorological Department said the cyclone was 215 km (134 mi) from Mumbai - and had turned into a "severe cyclonic storm". They later said the cyclone had increased speed about 13 kilometres per hour. It has been raining heavily in Mumbai since Tuesday.

Regarding the cyclone, the local government has said that people living in houses built near the shore are being shifted. The Coast Guard said that 109 fishermen from 18 boats moved to safe places. The government has asked people to stay safe in their homes. Also, in view of the cyclonic storm 'Nisarga', about 43,000 people living near the beach in Valsad and Navsari districts of Gujarat have been shifted to safe places. 13 teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and six teams of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed at various locations. Wind speeds in Valsad and Navsari districts can be 60-80 km. IMD Director General Mrityunjya Mahapatra has given information about this.
