PRAYAGRAJ: A pandal set up for Kumbh mela in Prayagraj caught fire on Monday a day before the religious festival is to officially start from Tomorrow.The fire at the Ardh Kumbh Mela engulfed multiple tents and destroyed around a dozen of them. The fire has been brought under control. No injuries or casualties that have been reported so far.

According to the reports, The fire began due to a cylinder blast in the kitchen at the camp. The Digambar Akhada has been evacuated. Fire brigades and police were rushed to the spot to douse the fire and carry out rescue operations.The administration has requested people to maintain calm. The officials said that there are no injuries or casualties that have been reported in the incident.

As part of the measures to fight the disaster related to fire hazard, the management had said that utility of modern and innovative firefighting tools have been used.

There is heavy security cover in Prayagraj for the Kumbh mela that begins on Tuesday. The 55-day long Kumbh Mela will end on March 4. Over 130 million pilgrims expected to participate in the festival.
