If you are a central employee, this news is for you. In fact, the Modi government is in the mood to shock the central employees. Yes, and the government has flatly refused to revise the rate of increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief for central employees and pensioners. Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that there is no need to increase the DA by more than 3 per cent. Now, knowing this news, the employees have got disappointment from the government. Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said in the Rajya Sabha on the increase in DA and DR relief, "According to the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI-IW) released by the Union Government Labour Ministry, DA and DR will be increased on the basis of the inflation rate.''

At the same time, the government also told parliament that the inflation rate has been more than 5 per cent in the last two quarters. Rajya Sabha MP Naranbhai J Rathwa had on Tuesday asked the Minister of State for Finance why the hike in dearness allowance of central government employees and pensioners has been kept steady at 3% when the rate of inflation is high. However, in response, Pakanj Chaudhary said that the government does not plan to increase the DA by more than 3 per cent. He further said that there is no need to revise the rate of increase in dearness allowance and dearness relief for central employees and pensioners.

Let us also tell all of you that 31 per cent dearness allowance is given to the Central employees. If it had been increased by 3 per cent before Holi, the total dearness allowance would have been 34 per cent. The government's decision would have benefited more than 50 lakh government employees and more than 65 lakh pensioners. It is on the basis of the recommendation of the Seventh Pay Commission that the Central Government increases the DA.
