Srinagar: A significant fire erupted in the early hours of Saturday in Dal Lake, a renowned tourist destination in Srinagar, the capital of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. The incident resulted in the destruction of property worth crores of rupees, as confirmed by officials. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries reported.
The Fire and Emergency Services Department reported that the fire started around 5:15 am near ghat number 9 of Dal Lake. The incident led to the damage of at least five houseboats and three huts. At the time of the fire, residents of the houseboats and numerous tourists were present.
In response to the situation, the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar met with the fire victims and assured them of all possible assistance. The affected individuals have been relocated to temporary shelter homes. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the fire, and efforts are underway to assess the extent of the damage and provide support to those affected.
