New Delhi: In the midst of the ongoing political turbulence in Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and senior NCP leader Praful Patel held a significant meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday. This meeting, with multiple layers of political implications, centers around the Maratha community's demand for reservation and the ongoing Election Commission hearing concerning claims on the NCP.

NCP's working president, Praful Patel, took to 'X' to share insights into the meeting, describing it as meaningful. He expressed warm Diwali wishes to Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and conveyed gratitude for the opportunity to pay a courtesy visit and share the festive joy.

Accompanying Ajit Pawar, Patel, and Lok Sabha member Sunil Tatkare were part of the delegation present at the meeting. The political landscape in Maharashtra had witnessed a significant turn in June when Ajit Pawar aligned with the BJP-Shiv Sena government, securing the support of over 40 out of the total 53 NCP MLAs. This move, which distanced him from his uncle and party chief Sharad Pawar, triggered a complex situation where Ajit Pawar staked his claim on the party's name and election symbol. The Election Commission is actively engaged in the ongoing hearings addressing these intricate political dynamics.
