Ahmedabad: on friday, the state Congress decided to launch Dalit Swadhikar Andolan from October 2 against the BJP-led state government.

Leader of Opposition Shankarsinh Vaghela said, "Dalits have been facing severe atrocities in the BJP ruled Gujarat. The inhumane Una flogging incident was the last straw that broke the camel's back".

"This BJP government is anti-dalit, anti-tribals, anti-OBC and anti-women...Their actions and statements prove that," he added.

Scheduled Caste cell of Congress met yesterday where the party decided to initiate the protest.

"We have decided to launch an agitation 'Dalit Swadhikar Andolan' to fight for the rights of dalits, which are being crushed by the BJP government", says Congress state Scheduled Caste cell chairman Naushad Solanki.
