Dhanbad: Six people, including two doctors (husband and wife), died in a fire at Hajra Hospital located in the old market of Dhanbad in Jharkhand on Friday night. Doctor couple Vikas Hazra and Dr. Prema Hazra died in this major accident. It is being said that the second floor caught fire due to a short circuit and slowly it engulfed the first floor of the hospital. Most of the people were asleep at the time of the accident. The bathroom tub and water were used to extinguish the fire, but the fire was so terrible and there was so much smoke inside the room that it became difficult to save lives.
On the same incident, CM Hemant Soren tweeted, 'The heart is distressed by the death of 6 persons including doctor couple Dr. Vikas and Dr. Prema Hazra due to late night fire at Hazra Memorial Hospital in Dhanbad. May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this difficult hour of grief.' When the fire department received the news of the fire, 2 fire engines reached the spot and the fire brigade personnel rescued a total of 9 persons from both sides of the hospital. All of them were admitted to the nearby Patliputra Nursing Home, where they are undergoing treatment.
Here, in connection with the incident, the manager of the hospital told that at present, the cause of the fire being assumed is a short circuit. He told that due to the fire, the cylinder filled with gas was safely taken out of the kitchen, otherwise, this accident could have been even more gruesome. On the occasion, Bank Inspector- Station House Officer PK Singh and DSP Law and Order Arvind Kumar Binha took charge. Keeping in view the security precaution, the administration banned outsiders from going upstairs. According to fire department personnel, there were no special security arrangements in the hospital to prevent the fire. The anti-fire machine was also not active here.
