Raipur: In Naxal-affected districts of Chhattisgarh, the police are constantly running the campaign to connect the Naxalites with the mainstream. In the last year, many Naxalites have surrendered in Dantewada and Bastar districts. All are living happy lives after surrendering. In Dantewada, on the day of Valentine's Day, the police has given a wonderful gift to the surrendering Naxalites. 15 Naxalite couples have found childhood love. The Dantewada police organized a marriage ceremony for them.

The wedding ceremony was organized by the police. The Dantewada Superintendent of Police Abhishek Pallava told ANI, "Today 15 surrendered Naxalites tied the knot here. Among them, there were many who fell in love while they were a part of the Naxal outfit but they were not permitted to marry." The wedding ceremony was performed according to the culture and tradition of their tribe. Kanyadaan was also done after that. The finest pavilion was built near the Karli helipad for this ceremony. All these Naxalites have returned to the mainstream after the surrender. There was also a couple among those who married, who has been a hardcore Naxalite at one time. The couple said "We fell in love a year ago while both of us were working as Naxals. I had a reward of Rs 5 lakh on my head while she had a reward of Rs 1 lakh. We wanted to marry back then but we were prohibited from doing so. We were also not allowed to have children, therefore, they conducted sterilization."

Dantewada SP Abhishek Pallava told that all the Naxalites who are married have surrendered within 6 months. Their family members were also present at the wedding ceremony. It is our effort that all the Naxalites return to the mainstream again.
