Dark Chocolate: Film on Sheena Bora is not defamatory

Film is being marketed as investigative journalism, says affidavit

On Wednesday, the director and producer Agnidev Chaterjee of the film ‘Dark Chocolate’ filed their reply at the Bombay High Court that the film ‘Dark Chocolate’ which is based on Sheena Bora murder case is not defamatory.

A division bench of Justice GS Patel and SC Dharmadhikari was hearing a suit filed by co-liable in the murder. Peter Mukherji who was currently charged with murder in the Sheena Bora case.

Shangon  Dasgupta  sister of Peter Mukherji is seeking a stay on the film’s release affirming defamation.

On the last hearing the court said, “Trailer alone could not be considered as adequate premise for the allegations of defamation and contempt”

While on the other hand the advocate Monesh Prem who is representing the film’s director s denied that the contents of the film were defamatory and would impede the administration of justice.

The court also restricted director from releasing the film without any notice or informing the court and petitioner.
