New Delhi: The roads of Delhi are now going to be illuminated in the evening. The streets of all the assembly constituencies are going to be buzzing with LED lights. In order to improve Delhi, the Delhi government is going to install 70 thousand more street lights in different areas under the CM Street Light Scheme.
To ensure the safety of the public, the first addition of about 2.1 lakh street lights is going to happen. Keeping in view the increasing participation of the people in the scheme, the government has decided to identify the dark streets and illuminate them. Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj approved the Urban Development Department's request to install 70,000 additional street lights against the current target of 2.1 lakh on Tuesday. Giving instructions to complete this project in the stipulated time, the minister has said that this will increase the safety of women in Delhi and will be an effective step to prevent crime.
Dark spots will end: 10, 20, and 40-watt LED lights are being installed in the streets. At present, work has been completed in most of the dark spots of many assembly constituencies under the scheme, while work is in the final stages in some areas. Now, on the instructions of the CM, it has also been decided to install 70 thousand additional street lights. This is going to help in ending the black spots in Delhi soon. Under this scheme, the local MLA also identifies the dark spots with the help of the people. After which, the electricity company conducts the survey with the permission of the building owner. After the survey, street lights are also being installed at appropriate places as needed. The Urban Development Minister has also issued instructions to release funds to the three companies to complete the remaining works of the first phase.
