Patna: The Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has given a big gift to the state employees before Diwali. Dearness allowance of government employees and pensioners of the state government has been increased by 4 per cent. The state cabinet has approved this 4 per cent hike. The benefit of this increased allowance will be available with effect from July 1, 2022. This will cost the state government an additional Rs 863 crore annually. More than 4 lakh working employees and 3 lakh pensioners will get the benefit of this increase. At the same time, 7,841 villages of 937 panchayats of 96 blocks of 11 districts of the state have been declared drought-hit. In these areas, more than 30 per cent rainfall deficit and less than 70 per cent area have crops. The state government has taken this decision after assessing area-wise. This proposal of the Disaster Management Department was approved in the state cabinet meeting chaired by CM Nitish Kumar on Thursday.

The districts where villages have been declared drought-hit are Jehanabad, Gaya, Aurangabad, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Munger, Lakhisarai, Bhagalpur, Banka, Jamui and Nalanda.
Flood-affected people will also get help:-
The Cabinet also decided to provide assistance to farmers for crops affected by excess rains in October and floods at various places. For this, the survey work will start soon. After the survey, agricultural input grant will be given to the affected families. Assistance will be given after the survey.
