Devasish who slapped TMC Leader Abhishek Banerjee dies under mysterious circumstances

Kolkata: Devashish Acharya, who slapped Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee on the dais six years ago, has died suspiciously. Abhishek Banerjee is also the nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Devashish Acharya, who was injured in a critical condition by some unidentified persons yesterday morning, was admitted to Tomaluk District Hospital in Midnapore and later reported dead.

According to hospital records, at 4:10 a.m. yesterday, some people brought Devashish to the hospital and admitted him and left. Devashish, who was badly injured, succumbed to his injuries by noon. Devashish's family then came to know about the incident and rushed to the hospital. Police officers also rushed to the hospital after receiving information about the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that Devashish had gone out for a bike walk with his three friends on the night of the 16th. The trio had tea at a tea shop near Sonapeta toll plaza when someone called his mobile and left the two friends. Police are investigating further.

Police are trying to find out who were the ones who admitted Devashish to the hospital. The family is being accused of conspiracy to murder. Some BJP workers are also questioning the death of Devashish Acharya. Devashish Acharya joined the BJP in 2020.
