Highlighting the legal aspect of the entire case, Rakesh Bharti's lawyer Ashok Sarovgi said that the petition was first heard by the High Court's Vacation Bench on December 27 and now its next hearing can be held on January 7. He further said, 'We have two demands in this matter. First, the film should not be released without giving credit to Rakesh Bharti. Second, those present in this crime should be punished.' According to Sarovgi, when the FIR was tried in this case, the police refused to register the complaint due to the involvement of large production houses and powerful people. A hearing, in this case, will be held on January 7 in the High Court, while the criminal case can be heard on January 9 in Borivali Court.

Apart from this, filmmaker Rakesh Bharti said, 'This fight is not for them. Rather it is right. The authors' rights are taken away every time. I also appeal to Gulzar Saheb to be associated with this fight as a writer to help me in this fight and to give me justice.' According to Rakesh's petition, in 2015, he registered it with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association. In the initial period, he thought the name of the film as 'Black Day'. For the last 4 years, he was working on this script. During this, he told the story to several actors Kangana, Priyanka Chopra, Aishwarya Rai, as well as Fox Star Studios. According to Bharti, his project was delayed due to some reasons. But when he came to know that Meghna Gulzar and Fox Star Studios were filming on his idea, he complained to the producers. However, seeing no answer, he filed a petition in the High Court.
